Easy to install
Fiat 500 key covers are an easy way to refresh your car keys. You can choose from a variety of styles and colors to find one that is most appropriate to your style. The most appealing aspect is that they're very simple to put in, meaning you can do it yourself in less than 10 minutes. You'll need a screwdriver as well as some patience. The first step is removing the original cover. The original cover needs to be removed before the replacement cover can be fitted.
After you have removed the cover, you can employ a flathead to remove the four major attachment clips off the passenger side of the fob assembly. These are marked with red on the photo below. Also, note the tabs for locating slots, which are yellow, that need to be disengaged as well.
Replace the old battery with a # CR2032 coin cell battery. The "+" side of the battery should be facing the opening on the fob, and the "-" side should be facing the rubber buttons.
Reattach the passenger side mirror cover by aligning the tabs that locate it. Once you've done this, place the driver side fob back in your car and test it by pressing the button on the front of the car key. If everything is working as it should the parking lights will be turned on and the doors will shut.

It is simple to change the battery by turning the switch a quarter turn using an inexpensive screwdriver that is flat.
The key fob is equipped with a microchip which communicates with the Body Control Module. When you insert your Fiat key it presses a button inside the ignition switch that is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then be able to read the transponder inside the key fob to verify that it's a valid.
